Calothamnus rupestris
Common name: Mouse Ears
Calothamnus is from the Greek words calos, meaning beautiful, and thamnus, meaning a bush or shrub. Rupestris is a Latin word meaning rocky (referring to the habitat).
Occurs in the southwest of Western Australia. Some of these occurrences are not its natural range but where the plant has naturalised.
A shrub to 4 metres tall. The pink or red flowers are produced from July to December.
This species has been introduced to our reserves. This has occurred as part of a revegetation project, especially if a change to the soil profile has been made – for example, around a created wetland.
