Doratifera oxleyi

Common name: Painted Cup Moth

Meaning of name:

Unknown.

Distribution:

Reported from the south west of Western Australia. Also reported from the south east of Australia.

Description:

This caterpillar was approximately 25 millimetres long.

Notes:

The caterpillar extends yellow hairs at each end of its body when disturbed. These hairs are capable of inflicting a sting.

This caterpillar was photographed in November.
