Cantareus apertus

Distribution:

Established in the Perth area. Scattered occurrences in other parts of Australia.

Description:

This snail grows a shell to approximately 25 millimetres in diameter. Its colour is a uniform green to dark brown. It doesn’t have any bands or other markings. The body is usually pale but can darken with age.

Notes:

This snail has been introduced to Australia and become a pest species. It damages most vegetables, cereals and grasses.

If this snail is found outside its known distribution it should be reported to the Department of Primary Industries and Regional Development.
