This cockroach has only been seen by us during the day which suggests that it is day-active. This individual is male.
This individual is female. The sexes have a different shape to the last body segment. This female's last segment is narrower and more pointed than that of the male cockroach in the previous photo.
Zonioploca bicolor
Common name: Spotted Desert Cockroach
The meaning of Zonioploca is not known. Bicolor is from the Latin words bi meaning two and color meaning colour.
This cockroach is known from the south-west of Western Australia.
This cockroach was approximately 30 millimetres long.
We have photographed this species all year round.
