



Peregrine Falcon
Scientific name: Falco peregrinus
Falco is a Latin word meaning falcon. Peregrinus is a Latin word meaning wandering.
Kwetolbo (kwet’awl’bore).
Widespread across Australia but less common in desert areas. Also found in many other countries around the world.
Up to 50 centimetres long with a 105 centimetre wingspan.
The furthest distance recorded by the Australian Bird and Bat Banding Scheme for this species of bird to travel is 500 km. The oldest bird recorded was recovered 15 years 3.7 months after being banded (information as at 14 June 2012).
The photographs for this species were not taken in the reserves of interest to the FQPB.
