Lamprima aurata

Common name: Golden Stag Beetle

Meaning of name:

Unknown.

Distribution:

Found across the southern and eastern parts of Australia.

Description:

This beetle was approximately 25 millimetres long.

Notes:

We have photographed this beetle in December.

The Western Australian population of beetles was previously thought to be a separate species, Lamprima micardi. However, a revision of the genus in 2018 established that it is actually Lamprima aurata.
