






Hemiandra pungens
Common name: Snakebush
Hemiandra is from the Greek words hemi, meaning half, and andros, meaning man, botanically stamen. It refers to the anthers being 1-celled. Pungens is Latin meaning pricking, botanically, pungent, ending in a sharp, hard point.
Occurs in the south west of Western Australia.
A prostrate plant with prickly leaves to 1 metre in diameter. The flowers, which are pale lilac with darker spots, can be produced in most months of the year.
