


Common Dwarf Skink
Scientific name: Menetia greyii
The meaning of Menetia is not known. Greyii honours Sir George Grey (1818 – 1898), former Governor of South Australia.
Found throughout Australia.
A grey lizard, up to 9 centimetres long, with dark dashes on its back. Mature males have a yellow flush on their bellies and a pink flush on their throats.
The females lay two clutches of two or three eggs each year. Each egg measures 7-8mm long by 4-5mm wide. Depending on incubation temperature these can take 45 – 105 days to hatch.
