Aotus gracillima

Meaning of name:

Aotus is from the Greek prefix a-, meaning without, and the Greek word otos, meaning ear or handle. It refers to the absence of bracteoles on the flower stem. Gracillima is from the Latin word gracillimus, meaning very thin or very slender.

Distribution:

Occurs in swampy areas on the coastal plain from Gingin south to Manjimup.

Description:

This species grows as a slender shrub to 2 metres tall. The yellow and red flowers are produced in October and November.
