Thynnidae 2 (female)

Meaning of name: Unknown.

Distribution: Unknown.

Remarks: This female wasp is approximately 15 millimetres long.

The wingless female Thynnidae wasps release pheromones that signal to the winged male that she is ready to mate. The male picks up the female and takes her to nearby flowers. They mate while she is feeding. The male then drops her to the ground where she searches for a beetle larva. Once found, she paralyses the larva and lays an egg on it. The young wasp hatches and eats the beetle larva.
