Sparaxis bulbiferaCommon name: Sparaxis

Meaning of name: Sparaxis is from the Greek word sparasso, meaning to tear. Bulbifera is from the Latin words bulbus, meaning bulb, and fero, to bear.

Distribution:  A garden escapee, this plant now occurs from Perth to Albany.

Remarks: A plant to 60 centimetres tall. The cream flowers are produced in September and October. This plant is native to South Africa.
