Meaning of name: Phleum is from the Greek word phleos, meaning wool-tufted reed. Arenarium is from the Latin word arenarius, meaning pertaining to or growing in sand.

Distribution: Found in Perth and Augusta.

Description: This plant is a tufted annual to 20 centimetres tall. The green flowers are produced in spring.

Remarks: Native to southern Europe.
