Meaning of name: Oxalis is from the Greek word oxaleios, meaning sorrel. Purpurea is from the Latin word purpureus, meaning purple. Botanically it refers to red with a touch of blue.
Distribution: Occurs from Geraldton to Harvey.
Remarks: A ground hugging plant. The pink flowers with yellow throats are produced from May to October. This is a native of South Africa.
