Meaning of name: Opercularia is from the Latin word operculum, meaning cover or lid. It refers to the lid-like valves on the fruit. Vaginata is from the Latin word vagina, meaning sheath.

Distribution: Occurs from Shark Bay to Israelite Bay.

Description: A spreading shrub to 30 centimetres tall. The green flowers are produced from August to October.
