Meaning of name: Melaleuca is from the Greek words melas, meaning black, and leucos, meaning white. It refers to the black trunk and white branches of some Asian species. Viminea is from the Latin word vimineus, meaning made of osiers, rush-like. Botanically it means having long, flexible twigs or shoots.
Distribution: Occurs from Kalbarri to Mount Barker.
Remarks: A shrub or small tree to 7 metres tall. The white flowers are produced from August to October.
