Lucilia sericata

Meaning of name: Unknown.

Distribution: This introduced fly is found across Australia and around the world.

Description: This fly was approximately 10 millimetres long.

Notes: Females produce eggs which are laid straight on to carcasses or open wounds of living animals. 

These flies were photographed in January and February.
