Lachenalia bulbifera

Meaning of name: Lachenalia commemorates the Swiss botanist Prof. Werner de Lachenal. Bulbifera is from the Latin words bulbus, meaning bulb, and fero, meaning to bear.

Distribution: Naturalized in a few locations near Perth.

Remarks: Two basal leaves surround a flowering stem to 20 centimetres tall. The red flowers are produced in July and August. This plant is native to southern Africa.
