Ischnura heterostictaCommon name: Common Bluetail
Distribution: Occurs throughout Australia.
Description: The male is blue and black. The female is a dull green colour.
Notes: The larvae inhabit still and sluggish waters, including temporary ponds, and have been reported to be salt tolerant.
We have photographed this species in October, December and January.
