Diuris brumalisCommon name: Winter Donkey Orchid

Meaning of name: Diuris is from the Greek words dis, meaning double, and oura, meaning tail, referring to the 2 hanging lateral sepals. The origin of brumalis is not known.

Distribution: Lateritic and granitic soils of the Darling Range.

Description: Brown and yellow typical Donkey Orchid shaped flowers held up to 50cm high. Flowers from June to August.

Notes: It is one of the first Donkey Orchids to open each year.
