Meaning of name: Unknown.

Distribution: Occurs throughout mainland Australia (not Tasmania).

Description: The males are red with black markings. The females are yellow with black markings.

Notes: Inhabits a wide range of still and sluggish waters.

We have photographed this species in August and every month from November to April.
