Bird’s nest fungus are so called because they resemble a bird’s nest, not because they are found in birds’ nests. The spores of the fungus are contained in the ‘eggs’ in the ‘nest’. The ‘eggs’ can be dislodged by a raindrops and, if the angle and force are right, thrown some distance from the ‘nest’.
