Stilbum cyanurum

Meaning of name: Unknown.

Distribution: Reported throughout Australia.

Remarks: This wasp is approximately 20 millimetres long.

This species is known to lay its eggs in the nests of mud dauber wasps. The developing young consume the contents of the nest which can include the mud-dauber’s young and paralysed spiders and insects.

These photographs were taken in January.
