Meaning of name: The meanings of Cortaderia and selloana are not known.

Distribution: Occurs from Perth to Albany.

Remarks: A tufted perennial to 4 metres tall. The leaves have very sharp edges. The large and distinctive flowers are produced in spring and summer. It is native to South America.
