Meaning of name: The meaning of the name Centranthus is not known. Macrosiphon is from the Greek words macros, meaning large, long, and siphon, meaning reed, straw, any tube. It refers to the corolla-tube being long and slender.

Distribution: Occurs in disturbed areas from Perth to Yalgorup National Park.

Remarks: An annual herb to 40 centimetres tall. The white or pink flowers are produced from August to October. This plant is native to Spain.
