Castiarina rufipennis
Meaning of name: The name Castiarina is derived from that of Francois Louis Nompar de Castelnau. Rufipennis is from the Latin words rufus, meaning red or reddish-brown, and pennatus, meaning winged.
Distribution: This beetle has been reported from across Australia except for the Northern Territory and Tasmania.
Remarks: This beetle is approximately 13 millimetres long and we have found it in the flowers of Nuytsia floribunda and Melaleuca rhaphiophylla.
We have seen this beetle in October and December.
