Castiarina pallidiventris

Meaning of name: The name Castiarina is derived from that of Francois Louis Nompar de Castelnau. Pallidiventris is from the Latin words pallidus, meaning pale, and venter, meaning belly.

Distribution: This beetle occurs over most of the southwest of Western Australia, southern South Australia and far western Victoria.

Remarks: This beetle is approximately 10 millimetres long and feeding on the flowers of Astartea scoparia.

The beetle has been seen in December and January on Astartea scoparia.

Associations: It is possible that Astartea scoparia is the host of the beetle larvae.
