Brown Goshawk

Scientific name: Accipiter fasciatus

Meaning of name:

Accipiter is Latin for hawk. Fasciatus is Latin for banded.

Aboriginal Name:

Djildjil (chill’chill).

Distribution:

Widespread across Australia but absent from the sandy deserts.

Description:

Up to 55 centimetres long with a 95 centimetre wingspan.
