Meaning of name: Brachychiton is from the Greek words brachys, meaning short, and chiton, meaning tunic. Populneus is from the Latin word populnus, meaning of or related to poplars, poplar-like.

Distribution: Planted in gardens and used as a street tree, this tree has naturalized in Perth urban bushland areas.

Remarks: A tree to 20 metres tall with cream flowers produced in spring. A native of eastern Australia.
