Arnocrinum preissii
Meaning of name: Arnocrinum is from the Greek words arnos, meaning lamb, and crinon, meaning lily, referring to the dense wool at the base of the stems. Preissii honours Johann August Ludwig Preiss (1811 – 1883) who collected in WA 1839 – 1841 upwards of 2,700 plant species.
Distribution: Occurs in sandy soils from Geraldton to Perth.
Description: Plants to 60 cemtimetres tall. Purple flowers approximately 15 millimetres in diameter held between October and February.
