Meaning of name: The meaning of Camponotus is not known. Chalceus is from the Greek words chalkos or khalkos, meaning copper or brass.
Distribution: This species has been found in the southern parts of Western Australia and South Australia.
Remarks: This ant was approximately 10 millimetres long.
