Lysimachia arvensisCommon name: Pimpernel

Meaning of name: The meaning of Lysimachia is not known. Arvensis is from the Latin words arvum, meaning cultivated place, and –ensis, meaning native of, i.e. growing in cultivated land.

Distribution: Occurs throughout the south-west of Western Australia.

Remarks: A spreading annual to 45 centimetres tall. The flowers are produced mainly from August to December. There are two varieties in the area. Variety caerulea has blue flowers while the flowers of variety arvensis are orange. This plant is native to Europe.

This plant was previously known as Anagallis arvensis.
