Meaning of name: Acacia is from the Greek word acis, meaning a pointed instrument. Applanata is from the Latin word applanatus, meaning flattened or horizontally expanded.

Distribution: Occurs from Dongara to Albany.

Remarks: An erect shrub to 50 centimetres tall. The yellow flowers are produced from June to October.
