Orobanche minorCommon name: Lesser Broomrape

Meaning of name: Orobanche is from the Greek words orobos, meaning vetch, and agcho, meaning to strangle. Minor is a Latin word meaning smaller.

Distribution: Widespread throughout the southwest of Western Australia.

Remarks: A parasitic herb up to 50 centimetres tall. The purplish flowers are produced from August to November. Native to Europe.
