Hypolaena exsulca

Meaning of name: Hypolaena is from the Greek words hypo, meaning under, and chlaina, meaning cloak. It refers to the glumes at the base of the spike. Exsulca is from the Latin words ex, meaning without, and sulcus, meaning furrow.

Distribution: Occurs from Eneabba to Esperance.

Description: A perennial herb to 75 centimetres tall. The brown flowers are produced from September to December.
