Meaning of name: Hakea is named after Christian Ludwig, Baron von Hake (1745 – 1818), German patron of botany. Prostrata is from the Latin word prostratus meaning thrown to the ground, prostrate, lying along the ground.

Distribution: Occurs from Eneabba to Israelite Bay.

Remarks: A shrub to small tree to 6 metres tall. The white flowers are produced from August to November.
